Linux Systems Administrator

Job Description:

LS Technologies, LLC is currently seeking a System Administrator who will manage daily operations and maintenance of unclassified and operational IT systems, including VMware platforms, Windows Operating Systems and Linux OS platforms. The System Administrator will work as part of a dynamic team to keep systems maintained and optimized through daily, weekly, and monthly patching, upgrades, and tuning when system maintenance is required and perform day-to-day operations and interface with internal and external clients. The responsibilities also include the maintenance of operations-related documentation, including configuration data, change requests, installation procedures, knowledge base articles, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), engineering diagrams, understand comprehensive security controls, and test plans.

Responsibilities include:

  • Requirements development, analysis and supporting comprehensive trade studies
  • Continuous verification and validation of cybersecurity requirements
  • Ability to apply system security engineering techniques to solve and mitigate cyber vulnerabilities
  • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), and ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management
  • Installation, configuration, maintenance of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems
  • Experience supporting technologies including RHEL Operating System and VMware
  • Experience with implementing security controls/hardening in accordance with security policy/guidance (e.g., CIS or STIG) for RHEL servers
  • Expertise in Kubernetes and container orchestration
  • Hands-on experience with containerization platforms like OpenShift or Tanzu
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Shell, Ansible)
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Splunk)
  • Maintain system baselines and configuration management items in accordance with orders and policies
  • Experience with RHEL security best practices and patching
  • Knowledge of Linux iptables, networking configuration, and DNS is a must
  • Knowledge of conducting security scans to identity on going and remediated vulnerabilities
  • Minimum of six (6) years of hands-on experience diagnosing network related issues in critical infrastructure
  • Ability to work independently and in a group to resolve technical issues in a dynamic environment Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology
    • At least 6 years of experience or an advanced degree in an applicable field Other Qualifications:
      • Ability to document and/or present ideas and findings such that others can easily learn from or make decisions based upon the material
      • Ability to Direct employees' efforts in performing design, development, integration, test, management, documentation, and delivery of mission essential software using Earned Value Management techniques.
      • Deliver on contractual requirements and adhere to quality control standards.
      • Assigns technical resources to work assignments.
      • Actively addresses employee performance and development, both issues and career growth.
      • Responsible for building a team including the on-boarding and assimilation of new hires.
      • Responsible for interacting with program management to ensure that scope is managed.
      • Communication skills including presentations skills
      • Comprehensive understanding of Cloud administration and best practice
      • Certifications desired:
      • VMware Certified Technical Associate
      • Microsoft Certified System Engineer
        Clearance Level Required:

        Currently have an active Secret Clearance or an ability to obtain within 6 months

        Location:

        The successful candidate must reside within reasonable commuting distance from the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic City, NJ or at the FAA Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
