Job Description Job Description Overview Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Fallsway Nurse Manager oversees and supervises Medical Assistants (MAs) within the Adult Medical Clinic at the 421 Fallsway location. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management, training, scheduling, auditing of tasks, and performance oversight of the nursing department to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality clinic operations. The Fallsway Nurse Manager serves as a key on-the-ground clinical and operational resource, providing real-time support to nursing and clinic teams, including supporting the nursing team by stepping during periods of severe short staffing as needed to maintain patient care and clinic flow. This position also functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary health care team and provides nursing care in accordance with the duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse position. Key Role Responsibilities Supervises MAs in theFallswayAdult Medical Clinic. Sets clear expectations, develops and manages schedules, monitors performance and outcomes, conducts regular audits of MA tasks and workflows, and fosters a culture of open communication, accountability, and continuous improvement through individual supervision and coaching. OverseesMA orientation, training, and competency compliance.EnsuresMAs receiveappropriate onboarding, ongoing training, andtimelycompletion of required competenciesin accordance withagency policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Provides on-the-ground operational and clinical support to MAs. Serves as a readily available resource for workflow guidance, problem-solving, and real-time support, including directly performing MA duties during periods of severe short staffing to ensure continuity of patient care. Provides direct patient care through a minimum of two (2) clinical sessions weekly, adjusting clinical time as necessary to support clinic capacity, staffing needs, and continuity of care. Performs all duties of the Registered Nurse position. Collaborates with other providers in an integrated, multidisciplinary care team; attends meetings asrequired; engages care team members in problem- solvingregardingclient care; and links clients to behavioral health, psychiatric, dental, and supportive services. Completes documentation of services in a legible mannerin accordance withestablished formats andrequiredtimeframeswithin the electronic health record. Assists the Director of Nursing in developing and implementing program changes and performance improvement activities. Partners closely with the Director of Nursing and Practice Managers to ensure high-quality client care and smooth clinic operations. Maintains clinical and regulatory standards, including infectious disease practices,in accordance withagency protocols. Obtains and shares up-to-date information from scientific and practice literature and other resources to improve quality of care and clinical operations. Key Agency Responsibilities In addition to role responsibilities, every staff member has the following responsibilities as a part of their employment: · Models and reinforces the core values of dignity, authenticity, hope, justice, passion and balance · Actively participates in performance improvement and advocacy activities that support the mission · Protects clients’ personal health information by maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other relevant health care-related IT security regulations · Performs other duties on an as-needed basis Knowledge, Experience and Skills Formal Education and Training · Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland · BSN required · BLS CPR certification required Experience · Three years of clinical experience as an RN required · One year of supervisory experience preferred · Two years in a community health center or primary care setting as an RN required · Experience working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary clinical setting is preferred · Experience providing direct care to an underserved population highly preferred Skills · Strong interpersonal skills to interact and maintain relationships with a wide range of personalities · Commitment to self-assessment, as well as giving and receiving constructive feedback · Demonstrated efficiency, organization and good judgment in the use of one’s time and the time of others · Strong written and verbal communication skills · Able to cope with interruptions, be flexible and be a team player · Flexible approach, can work across disciplinary teams in a collaborative style · Culturally sensitive and emotionally intelligent; able to work well with staff and clients from diverse backgrounds · Able to work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset and sometimes hostile individuals Health Care for the Homeless is an equal opportunity employer.
