Minimum 2 years of GE experience required (GE Revolution Frontier
64 slice preferred) License: NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License
Certifications: ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license required, American
Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Must-Have:
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiological positioning
of the human body - Understanding of mechanical attributes of CT
software and hardware - Thorough knowledge of PACS system - Ability
to achieve ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months of hire
date - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within three months
of hire date Description: The Cat Scan Technologist performs
computed tomography procedures and related techniques. Produces
sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation. Assists
with interventional and therapeutic procedures. Performs complex CT
procedures. Uses professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining
patient’s clinical history for procedures. Ensures that information
is documented and scanned into the appropriate systems. Prepares
and reviews the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with the
patient and/or family member. Identifies and/or administers
contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by a licensed
practitioner. Reviews the patient prescription to verify the
appropriateness of the exam. Communicates with the Radiologist and
Referring Physician when necessary. Responsible for clarifying the
prescription in accordance with appropriate CT protocols. Verifies
insurance authorized exam script and sends exam modification forms
for re-verification. Obtains outside studies and schedules them in
the system for availability for comparison by Radiologists.
Responsible for providing exam copies to patients and requesting
physicians. Evaluates radiographs using PACS System for proper
identification and diagnostic value. Gathers relevant information
from medical records and healthcare providers to prepare protocols
for scanning. Determines whether the patient has been appropriately
prepared for the procedure. Preps patients for scanning, including
shielding and immobilization devices. Determines the appropriate
type and dose of contrast to be administered. Provides accurate
explanations and instructions at a level the patient can
understand. Addresses and documents patient questions and concerns
regarding the procedure. Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and
maintenance procedures according to established guidelines.
Monitors the patient’s physical condition during the procedure for
any adverse reactions. Responsible for scheduled shifts, including
holidays and weekends. Adheres to policies regarding
identification, standards of behavior, attendance, and punctuality.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull a minimum
of 50 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day. Identifies
the needs of the patient population served and modifies care
accordingly. Communicates effectively with patients, parents,
and/or caregivers at their appropriate level. Adheres to the
established organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Required to provide one holiday shift during the coverage period.
